Samsung always introduces a host of smartphones per year but it is adding one more unique product to the entire portfolio. And if you have not heard about it till now, it has been named Galaxy X, according to a trademark filing. Reports on when this particular device will reach the masses are still unclear but according to the latest info we received, Samsung is expected to start the prototype production phase of its foldable smartphone very soon.
Both Samsung and Chinese Rivals are Accelerating the Development Process of the Foldable Display Smartphone – Targeted at the Premium Buyer
It appears that Samsung is not the only company that has been rumored to be working on foldable display smartphone prototypes. With increasing competition from a slew of Chinese manufacturers, Samsung has been forced to dramatically increased prototype production of its upcoming foldable display frontier phone, according to ETNews.
Production of these prototypes will start from the third quarter of this year, so it does not look like they will be ready for the masses at least until the start of 2018. Just like the upcoming Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus, the rumored Galaxy X is expected to be placed in the premium smartphone category, suggesting that it will fetch a high price when it is officially ready to be stacked on to retail stores. A foldable display handset like this will most definitely be taking advantage of Samsung’s Super AMOLED panel, but information regarding its insides are very scarce.
